About
Filipe Baptista is a Portuguese director, game designer, composer, and visual artist.
His practice unfolds across performance, installation and videogames, with his stage works being often categorized as hybrid devices between performative, interactive and contemplative spaces and his videogames as interactive art with a heavy focus on atmosphere and personal mythos.
He holds a Master’s degree in Multimedia and Computer Science, which he completed in 2015 with a dissertation that bridged interaction design and the performative arts, followed by a specialization in videogame design. At the same time, he was also working as a dancer and performer - a dual trajectory that shaped his multidisciplinary approach.
Since 2017, he has been creating various authorial and multidisciplinary works, spanning the realms of videogames, interactive art, music, performance, film and installation art.
Since his first creation, Baptista has been composing and designing the soundscapes for his own projects. His approach to acousmatic music and sound design has led to commissions to compose and design sound for several theater productions in Portugal.
He has also collaborated on several projects by providing assistance on translating concepts into interaction design or by creating and directing visual works.
In parallel to his independent artistic practice, he worked for eight years as a game designer in a company that bridges videogames, cognitive sciences and mixed reality.
He is currently co-directing the project ‘Through the Chiral Veil’, an interactive installation and VR experience, set to premiere in October, 2026.
